Sheila O'Flanagan

Hi UK readers

I’ll be in the fabulously impressive Canada Water Library on Monday 28th May at 7pm, along with fellow author Sasha Wagstaff, author of Changing Grooms and Heaven Scent. Like me, Sash is a reformed banker! We’ll be talking about how we swapped the Boardroom for Books (a good call, I think) and answering any questions you might have on writing and publishing. Tickets are free but the library recommends booking. You can contact them on 020-75251570 or southwark.libraries@southwark.gov.uk.

I’d love to see you there as I don’t get enough opportunities to meet my readers in London and the rest of the UK. If you want to bring along books to have signed, I’ll be more than happy to do that for you!! I’m really looking forward to the event.

love

Hi everyone

First of all many, many thanks to my Irish readers for getting the paperback edition of All For You to the number one slot in the bestseller lists. It’s always a thrill to see one of my books there and know that so many of my readers are still buying them!

I just wanted to tell you all about a little extra something that I’m working on. It’s for my e-book readers and it’s a short compliation ebook containaing a selection of readers’ favourite short stories from my Destinations, Connections and A Season to Remember collections. One of the stories included will be a follow-on of Isobel’s Wedding – which is the story I’m asked about most often! Additionally, there will be a chapter from Better Together (my next novel which will be released in July) and a Q&A section in which I’ll answer some of the questions I’m asked most often about books and writing.

If you want to have a question included in the book, post it in the Ask Sheila section of my website, or on my FaceBook fan page, or on Twitter (using the asksheila hashtag).

The ebook will be available for a limited period from June.

Hope you like it!

love

The Irish Feminist Network hosted this amazing documentary film by Jennifer Siebel Newsom on 22nd February. It deals with women’s under-representation in positions of power and the limited portrayal of women in the media. It’s a must see – even though it’s exploring these issues from the US viewpoint, we are saturated with US media and many of the points raised in the film are equally applicable throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe. Do go and see it if you can. Visit the website: www.missrepresentation.org

Great news for me at the Irish Book Awards when All For You won the Eason Popular Fiction Award for 2011. Thanks to everyone who voted, it means a lot to me. I’m delighted you enjoyed Deanna and Lainey’s story – for me, it’s like the two of them have won the award! Thanks again!
