Isobel’s Wedding

isobel's weddingAt the time I was thinking about this book I seemed to be hearing about weddings every second day. So I thought I’d write about what happens when one is called off at short notice. I reckoned it would be totally traumatic because so much of everyone’s time is caught up in wedding preparations these days.

My heroine, Isobel, is so devastated that eventually she moves to Madrid to start a new life where she throws herself at as many men as possible in order to forget her ex-fiancéTim. But when she meets a man she really likes Tim suddenly comes back into her life too.

I love Spain and Madrid and was really looking for an opportunity to take my readers there – one of the great things about being a writer is being able to visit places you love in the name of research!

Many, many readers have asked me to write a sequel to Isobel’s Wedding. I didn’t feel that I could put her through the trauma of an entire novel but I appreciate and understand that there is a lot more to her life at the end of the book.

And so in my short story collection, Connections, there is a story which brings Isobel to the Caribbean resort. I hope that all of you who read it will be happy with what happens to her there…..
