The world watched in horror at the devastation wrought on South Asia as a result of the Tsunami on 26th December 2004 and the response in terms of offers of help to those who had lost so much was tremendous.
In Ireland, Ciara Considine, a wonderful editor with Hodder Headline Ireland, asked 39 women writers if they would consider contributing a short story to a book with the proceeds in aid of the victims.
The 39 writers agreed immediately, especially because - uniquely for a charity book - all of the cover price of Moments is going directly to Goal.
Everyone offered their services for free and 15,000 books have been printed. At a price of €10, that will mean €150,000 raised for Goal.
My story, Burying Joe, is the only personal story I have ever written but because of the once-off nature of this book I felt it was an appropriate one. It's about the death of my father. Sadly he died too young to see me make a career out of writing, but he was always very supportive of my desire to write.
I've dedicated it to him, so that he can be part of my life now too.
